After a free trial of 7 diapers and 10 wipes, what do I honestly think about The Honest Company?
Well, let’s look at the pros. When choosing a sustainable and toxin-free product to cover your little baby’s booty the options are limited, but Jessica Alba’s Honest Company stands out from the
very small pack. Do they work? YES! During the day, my 1 year-old daughter, Charlie is constantly running, climbing, falling and everything in between, but those Honest diapers stayed in place and did the job. Even overnight was no contest for the diaper…not a leak in sight (apparently, they have some “securely fitting moisture barrier cuff” to prevent leakage…ummm, wharves). On top of that, my daughter has eczema, but there wasn’t a rash in sight when using THC diaper…I really appreciate that! Plus, can I just say how cute the diapers are?! They come in several colors and patterns for boys and girls. Oh, and I can’t forget about the wipes…thick, durable, super soft AND easy clean ups!
Unfortunately, with every pro comes a con (or two). If you want to go green it’s gonna cost you. The Honest Company offers a few different options, but claims the bundle is the best bargain. For $79.95 per month, Alba and Co. will send you six jumbo packs of diapers and four packs of wipes (each pack contains 22-40 diapers, see chart below). If you just want to grab one box, then head to Target and drop $25.99 (size 4, 60 count). In comparison, another sustainable brand, Seventh Generation goes for $18.99 at Target (size 4, 54 count). FYI: I’ve tried Seventh Generation and experienced a few leak issues and the brown paper bag look isn’t to SASY…plus, the wipes were kinda dry.
Overall, I have to admit I was pleased with The Honest Company and pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend the diapers and wipes and I’m seriously considering signing up for the monthly delivery. When I do the math, the $80 price tag is comparable to what I spend on diapers and wipes monthly, anyway. Plus, I’m a sucker for stylish diapers!
Sidenote: It’s worth mentioning that before trying out The Honest Company, I thought they were over-priced, over-hyped, unnecessary celebrity diapers and I was getting ready to curse Jessica Alba for being money hungry. After the free trial, I totally get it. Going “green” may be popular, but it’s far from a fad. It’s time I get on board with helping Mother Earth.
