Thank God, Belly Bandit got the corset game correct!

I’ve been rocking my Belly Bandit “Mother Tucker” Corset for over a week now and let me tell you, my waist is snatched, my body is shaped like a Coke bottle and I still feel comfortable all day long. I never thought all of that was possible, all at once.

Why The Britax Clicktight Car Seat Really Is A #Gamechanger!

April 11, 2015
Screen Shot 2015-04-11 at 7.02.52 PM

I’ve tried my fair share of car seats … FOUR to be exact (and #CharlieB isn’t even two yet!). But now, I look no further. The Britax Advocate ClickTight car seat is all I ever needed!

I could give you all the safety features and the extensive list of impressive data, but Britax has already done all of that for you (just click HERE). What I will do is give you my list of pros and cons for the car seat that has been accurately dubbed the “#GameChanger”.

-It literally took me less than a minute to install it. ME! Our last car seats all had to be installed by my husband.

-It’s super plush and therefore comfy for my tall toddler.

-It’s a convertible seat that goes from newborn to toddler seamlessly.

-There are seven recline positions. SEVEN! Plus easy to read indicator on the side makes knowing which position to put your child in fool-proof.

-More than anything, the enhanced safety features give me peace of mind like no other.

-I wish it had a cup holder.

Yep, that’s my only con. And I just found out you can order one as an attachment on the Britax website for about 15 bucks.

As a product tester it’s really important for me to be able to stand behind my words and trust the items I endorse. Without a doubt, I will be recommending the Britax ClickTight car seat to every SASY mom I know!

Why “Home” Is Where The Heart Is!

March 27, 2015
Screen Shot 2015-03-26 at 11.32.24 PM

Home has more than just heart … it’s full of laughs, tears and an amazing message!

Just a few days ago, the hubby, Charlie B and I got to see an early screening of the new Dreamworks animated film, Home. The film follows Tip, voice by Rihanna, who loses her mother when Boov aliens inhabit the Earth. Jim Parsons plays the adorable Boov alien Oh who attempts to help Tip find her mother Lucy, played by Jennifer Lopez. Steve Martin also joins the film as Boov leader, Captain Smek.

An all-star cast is just one of the many reason why Home is a must see movie for kids and adults alike. Here are my top 5 reason to see Home

1. The Boov aliens are super cute. Similar to the Minions in Despicable Me, the Boovs are bound to steal your heart and your kids will probably be obsessed. Get ready!

Charlie B with the Boovs, Oh and Captain Smek.

Charlie B with the Boovs, Oh and Captain Smek.

2. The jokes are actually funny. Not just kid-friendly funny, but adult funny, too. Somehow, Dreamworks figured out the perfect balance between little people LOLs and big people Bwahahahas.

3. You might just cry — Well, I did. I’m an emotional person on just an average day, but there’s a moment in this film where I think the whole audience teared up. It’s sweet, heartfelt and moving, so bring a tissue (just in case).

4. The message of the film encourages self acceptance and acceptance of those around you. Without beating you over the head, the message of tolerance is loud and clear, and it’s absolutely beautiful. It also promotes friendship, respect, loyalty, honesty, love, perseverance and determination … you can’t go wrong with a message like that!

5. There’s a surprise ending that’s just awesome. Without smacking you with a huge spoiler alert, I’ll just say that you think you know where the film is headed, but then something unexpected happens and it not only teaches a beautiful lesson, it’s also awww-inducing!

Home hits theaters March 27th! If you go, hit me up on Twitter and let me know what you thought.

In a world full of yummy fruit and veggie pouches, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But, leave it up to #CharlieB to weed out the best of the best.

In all honesty, Charlie is a pouch connoisseur. She loves Earth’s Best, Go Go Squeeze, Ella’s Kitchen and Happy Baby … but, now we can add Chobani to her list of likes!

Product Review: Which Natural Diaper Is The BEST?!

January 3, 2015
Screen Shot 2015-01-03 at 9.21.12 AM

Diapers, diapers everywhere, but which one to choose?!

Over the last 19 months I have tried several natural diapers on #CharlieB. Honestly, there are a ton on the market, but three brands in particular are my favorite. I’ll give you the pros, cons and the one eco-friendly diaper that is the driest of them all!

If you’re looking for a no fuss, no muss kind of diaper, then look no further. Aside from being “natural”, Seventh Generation is also no frills! The diapers resemble a paper bag which emphasizes the no dyes/no perfume approach. It’s not like you need a pretty diaper (we all know what happens inside of it), however this one is unusually ugly. But honestly, that didn’t bother me (that much). The diapers did well for #CharlieB until she got a bit older. They are great for tiny babies, but once your little one crosses over to solids, Seventh Generation may not measure up to the heavy doody task. They tout a special absorbent core containing wood pulp, corn and wheat derived materials, but that wasn’t enough for my little potty machine. Rating: 3 out of 5 Sippy Cups

THC may be one of the more popular natural diaper brands and for a good reason. What Seventh Generation lacks, THC picks up. The diaper was consistently leak free for #CharlieB during the day, but wasn’t a reliable overnight option — it was hit or miss depending on how long Charlie slept. However, I do appreciate that they are a reasonably priced, eco-friendly option which is sometimes hard to find. Plus, not only is there easy ordering online, but now many retailers carry the brand as well. PLUS, Honest diapers are super cute! With tons of designs to choose from, it feels like you’re shopping for clothes, not diapers. Rating: 4 out of 5 Sippy Cups

Here we go … the MVP of non-toxic diapers! Just like the ones listed before it, Bambo Nature touts an eco-friendly, natural, super absorbent resume. And like the ones before it, it pretty much delivers. The difference? Not. One. Leak. Ever! Literally, during the two weeks we tested Bambo, #CharlieB stayed leak free. Then there’s this…

Bambo Nature is the only baby diaper in the world to receive the highly-coveted Nordic-Swan Eco-Label. Carrying this label entails one of the lengthiest approval processes in all of Scandinavia (and possibly the world), as their strict standards are raised each year.

Soooo, what does that mean? I don’t know and I really don’t care. Sure, they have lots of credentials and labels, but at the end of the day I just want a diaper that works and thankfully this one does! The only con is that Bambo Nature is a bit harder to find than other diapers. It’s not stocked in every store, but with this wonderful invention called the Internet, you can order BN anytime you want. Oh, and they’re not totes adorable like The Honest Company diapers, but not butt ugly like Seventh Generation. They look like your average diaper. Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5 Sippy Cups.

Have you tried some awesome, natural diapers that aren’t listed here? Shoot me an email and tell me all about it!

Step-for-Step … is Pediped the Best?

December 28, 2014
Screen Shot 2014-12-27 at 7.42.42 PM

There are TONS of adorable shoes available for little girls. No seriously, have you seen the selection out there?! There’s no shortage of super cute kicks for your tiny tots. But, how many of them can claim to be comfortable and good quality, too? Not many that I know of and that’s why I’m officially a big fan of Pediped.

#CharlieB got her first pair of Pedipeds just a short while ago and she and I are already in love. The footwear company prides itself on “comfort, quality, and style—in that order” and that’s evident from the first time CB step foot in hers. I’ll be honest, Charlie isn’t the biggest fan of shoes, socks or anything on her feet for that matter. She loves to look at shoes, but they typically don’t stay on long … however, the “Grip ‘n’ Go” shoe in the “Henry” style (pictured above) stayed on almost all day. That’s a big deal in the Barnett household! On top of that, the shoe was super cute and had a sturdy sole for my little clumsy toddler, LOL!

Pediped shoes promote healthy foot development by offering footwear for every stage of growth. There’s the “Original” for infants and little ones learning to walk. There’s the “Grip ‘n’ Go” style for active toddlers transitioning into confident walkers (Charlie B’s current phase). And there’s the “Flex” for those with a solid stride. The selection of styles for each type of shoe is almost endless — there are dress shoes and sandals for girls, sneakers and boots for boys and everything in between. I think the only thing they’re missing are moccasins … oh please, Pediped make some moccasins!!

All in all, Pediped has a fan in me and most importantly, in #Charlie B. To learn more about this awesome company, their innovative technology and the husband and wife team that created it, go to and tell them I sent you :)

Bonus Note: Their customer service is second to none! The Pediped team helped me find the perfect shoe for #CharlieB and even when I made a blunder in ordering, they rectified it immediately and with a smile. That means A LOT to a mom like me!

Holiday Must Have: Tons Of Fun With Foodstirs Kit!

December 8, 2014

There are few things in the world that scream “the holidays are here” like fresh baked gingerbread cookies and when they’re homemade it’s even better! Luckily, Foodstirs cooking kits makes baking at home easy and fun for the whole family — believe me, I know firsthand!

#CharlieB, Grammy and I had a great time making “Gingerbread People” with our Foodstirs kit. Literally, almost everything you need comes in the box … flour, sugar, jelly beans, cookie cutter … seriously, they make it SO easy!

Mixing it up! We have all the ingredients...

And even though CB is only 18 months, she was able to help out and have lots fun doing it. She helped pour ingredients into the bowl, mixing the batter with her little hands and decorate cookies (really, she just ate the organic jellybeans and chocolate covered sunflower seeds LOL!).

Just look how happy #CharlieB is :)

The various kits (Gingerbread People, Dreidel cookie, Brownie Popsicle and more) are reasonably priced, easy to order and make about 10-12 cookies … oh, and did I mention they’re delicious?! Check out for more info and take a look at our step-by-step photos below!

Product Review: Is The Poli Sippy Cup Perfect For Your Little One?

December 3, 2014
Screen Shot 2014-12-02 at 5.16.27 PM

Have you ever taken note of how many sippy cups there are on the market? It feels like a trillion! But every so often, you stumble across one that is a bit different than the rest. Let me introduce you to the Poli sippy cup!

I’m sure you’re saying, ‘what makes this one so different?’ Well, let me tell you … it’s all about the “easy to clean/no parts to lose” design. This is the only cup we own that doesn’t require disassembly in order to wash and that is a God send!

While Charlie B. tried out the cup for a few days, I took notes and can give you my honest feedback. There were lots of pros, but just one con.

1. Did I mention the “easy to clean/no parts to lose” design! I’m always looking for ways to simplify life and this helps. It’s super easy to get in and wash those small/tight spots and you don’t have to worry about losing a tiny piece down the drain.

2. It’s practically spill-proof. Even with Charlie B. turning, twisting and tipping the cups there was very little spillage.

3. It’s made in the USA…LOVE that :) Plus, it’s BPA and phthalate free AND created by a mom just like us!

1. Only one con for us and that was the flow. While it was easy for Charlie B. to get liquid from the cup, it wasn’t always enough to satisfy her and at times she got a bit frustrated. Since the cup is for 8 months and older, and Charlie B. is 18 months, I believe she may be just a little advanced for the flow level.

Note: The spout is an ergonomic design that is made of a harder material that is resistant to chewing and bite marks. While for parents it’s a pro, some little ones may not like it and consider it a con.

Here’s a couple of pic of Charlie B. and her Poli sippy cup! She has the “Twinkle, Twinkle” design, but they also come in “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and “Humpty Dumpty”, plus they were all hand drawn and colored by the mother who created the cup.  Find out more about Poli sippy cups on their website

Product Review: Why “Tummy Calm” Should Be Called Mommy Calm!

November 14, 2014

Have you spent countless nights trying to calm a crying baby? Of course you have, you’re a MOTHER!

There were a few sleepless night, especially around the 5 or 6 month mark, where it got really tough for me. We had begun to introduce solids into #CharlieB’s diet and somethings didn’t sit well with her tummy. That led to looooong nights of crying (me and her), uncomfortable tossing and turning (me and her) and ultimately a variety of gas drops and home remedies that didn’t work.

That is, until I tried Tummy Calm. No one had suggested it, no one told me about it beforehand, I literally had never heard of it. I was just a desperate mother hanging out in Walgreens when I saw a product claiming to “provide safe, gentle and immediate relief for digestive upset.” I took the bait … and I’m so glad I did.

Not only is Tummy Calm a natural remedy for gas relief, but all of the ingredients come directly from “Mother Nature”. After giving my daughter Tummy Calm she seemed to feel better in a matter of minutes. Plus, it wasn’t hard to get her to take the drops because they actually taste good (yes, I tried them!). And although #CharlieB is now 17 months old and doesn’t have as many digestive issues as she used to, Tummy Calm still helps with pain from teething and hiccups.

Tummy Calm is something I recommend to my friends, family and even strangers (no, seriously). I love that it’s all natural, so there’s no fear of over-medicating your little one. And, most importantly, I love that it works!

Product Review: To ChubChub or Not To ChubChub?

November 11, 2014

As a mother, I am always looking for products that make life a bit easier. But, in my endless search there are definitely some hits and misses. So, where does ChubChub end up on the list? Well, let me tell you a little story…

It was a beautiful, balmy day and after a fun-filled afternoon at the Club MomMe Fall Family Fest, we hopped in the car and my husband gave our daughter, #CharlieB a tasty fruit and veggie pouch while she sat in her car seat. When it was time to take her out, she was COVERED in a orange sweet potato/carrot/apple/blueberry puree. Needless to say, the clean-up was an epic task (and that’s an understatement).

Fast-forward to our ChubChub test. I had heard good things about the product, but honestly, I thought it was just another needless apparatus … I was wrong. The ChubChub provided a no mess, no stress pouch-eating experience. I didn’t have to run behind #CharlieB with a wet wipe, I didn’t have to worry about her squeezing the pouch until it was empty and I didn’t have to worry about another epic clean-up — Plus #CharlieB seemed to have fun holding the handles like a little steering wheel (parent-approved fun with food)! My only con would be that if you’re not careful you could end up making a mess while trying to attach the ChubChub to your pouch.

All in all, I love ChubChub and would def recommend it — and so would #CharlieB!

Giveaway: Garcelle Beauvais’ “I Am” Book Series!

November 11, 2014
i am book

Garcelle Beauvais and Sebastian A. Jones have created a series of books that instantly made me say, “why didn’t I think of that?”! It’s really such a great, yet simple, idea — create real life stories that children now-a-days can relate to.

Times have definitely changed. Not all families live on Main Street with a white picket fence, have a mom and dad, 2 children and 1 dog. Families today are multicultural, blended and sometimes, not living under the same roof. That’s where the “I Am” book series comes in. Because of their actual life experiences Garcelle and Sebastian know first hand how to speak to children who live these unique lives.

The I Am Book Series focuses and celebrates the diversity that exists in the lives of today’s children through our two little tykes, Nia and Jay (The series is written from a child’s perspective). I Am will stress to children that their uniqueness is a gift to be treasured, and while sometimes they may feel it is difficult to be different, they are far from alone. After all, every child is unique in their own way.

My daughter #CharlieB is only 17 months old, yet even she was intrigued by the bright colors, beautiful pictures and easy language in the “I Am” books (and that says a lot, not much keeps her attention these day, LOL). As a parent, I appreciated the different subjects each book touched on. Loving yourself, handling tough questions from friends, how to talk to your parents — both book helped in each of those areas and more. Plus, and the end of the books there’s an opportunity for more growth. There’s an about me section that kids can fill out, the family tree at the end of “I Am Mixed” is just perfect and the discussion questions are a help to both parents and kids.

I got to meet Sebastian and Garcelle at the Club MomMe Fall Family Fest and could see the passion they have for this project first hand. I truly appreciate them for providing this kind of literature to kids … ALL kids. Whether your children and mixed, living in separate homes or not experiencing either of those situations, they can still learn from the “I Am” book series. And because I feel the books are so important, I am offering a free giveaway of a signed copy of “I Am Mixed” and “I Am Living In 2 Homes”! Just go to our Instagram page @StilettosAndSippyCups to find out all the details!
