Finding fashionable frocks for little tots can sometimes be a daunting task. If you want quality and comfort, plus something stylish and fly that doesn’t cost a fortune, it takes some hard work and research. Luckily for me, my friend is a beauty editor and keeps her kid looking cool all the time! You may remember former “SASY Mom of the Week”, April Jones — she’s a fabulous fashionista (check out her IG: @iamaprildenise) with a super chic two year old daughter named Olivia Blair. She’s here to give you some tips on how to keep your little one looking fierce at all times … without spending all your money. ~ Modern Martha Stewart xo

When asked to describe Olivia’s personal style, yes my two-year old has personal style, I would describe it as west coast cool with a touch of sass. I normally combine comfortable chic basics in neutrals with a fabulous statement piece(s) to add a little rock star element. Pops of color and prints are of essence, however we stay away from pinks (and ruffles) because lets face it the kid is not a prissy pageant queen. Olivia rocks a curly fro’, not pigtails with bows.

People often admire the way I style Olivia and they’re pretty much amazed when I tell them where I purchase her wardrobe. I love to mix and match pieces from Old Navy, American Apparel, The Gap, Zara & local thrift stores. The majority of her wardrobe is from the Gap due to their affordability, stylish on-trend collections, and most importantly their high quality. Bluebird Children’s Designer Resale Boutique on Larchmont is where I find Liv’s designer pieces and the majority of her outerwear. I’m also obsessed with Zara’s stylishly chic outerwear for children. I purchase her “mini-me” looks from there as well.

Scarfs & Bandanas $3+
Olivia LIVES for accessories. She is literally the only toddler who will wear a scarf around her neck or fedora on her head the entire day. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!

Chunky Sweaters $34.95+
Cozy and always in-style, chunky sweaters are perfect for LA’s mild winters. We love to throw them over a denim collar shirt or oxford for a polished preppy chic look.

Thermal Long Sleeve T-Shirts $14 $5
These basics are the most used pieces in Liv’s wardrobe. They’re awesome for layering, and are extremely comfortable. She loves rocking them to the playground.

When designing a wardrobe for your stylish tot, try to abstain from overspending.
It would be absolutely ridiculous to spend obscene amounts of money outfitting a toddler who’s growing at the speed of light! If you do go overboard make sure it’s an investment piece like gender neutral outerwear that can be passed down to their siblings or even your future grandchildren!
